Runner Notes

Expect traffic on a nice day including hikers, runners, dogs and horses. This trailhead is notorious for break-ins so be sure to take any valuables with you or stash them out of sight in your car.

Description

From the trailhead the route heads west and climbs immediately. The steep climb is broken by a couple of flatter sections but climbs the entire way. About half way up there is an intersection, though a sign points the correct direction to the left. If you were to continue straight, this is a short cut, though very steep. The left is the "official" trail and much more enjoyable with a couple of photographic switchbacks. Eventually, the trail will end at the intersections to the Hemlock Trail.

Flora & Fauna

Cougars have been sighted on this trail in the winter months.
