Description

Red Mill County Park is 160 acres in size and located in the glacier moraine leftover from the last ice age. The park has really nice mature forests covering the hilly terrain. Round Lake serves as the headwaters of the Little Calumet River. All the trails are wide with good footing. There are ample picnic tables and benches throughout the park.

The trail runs through the Little Calumet Headwaters State Dedicated Nature Preserve. The trees are really fantastic and look like old growth in some spots. Start the trail from the main parking lot. It's paved from the parking lot to the Environmental Education Center building and packed dirt with leaf litter afterwards. This trail is easy to follow as it appears to have been used by vehicles before it became a nature preserve.
