Runner Notes

Some sections of the road are somewhat rocky, so supportive shoes are helpful. Also the water in the Redwell Basin area along the Gunsight Road is acid mine runoff and not drinkable, so plan accordingly.

Description

An old mining road grade that ascends from the Slate River at the Gunsight Bridge through Wolverine and Redwell Basin to Mt. Emmons. Start by following the signs towards the upper lower loop trail. Instead of turning onto the trail, continue along the road as it ascends providing consistently awesome views.

This road is also the preferred way to descend from the Scarp Ridge Trail while running a point to point.

Flora & Fauna

Look for raspberry bushes alongside the road!
