Features: Fall Colors — River/Creek
This is a good trail, although not as well maintained in places. Port City Brewery is just off the trail before Ben Brenman Park so look for that. A couple areas feel a bit isolated but you are not far from a major road.
This trail has a little bit of everything--paved trails, crushed stone sections, bridge crossings, residential areas, woods, and more. It links up with the Eisenhower Avenue Connector
and gives you quite an experience through Alexandria, VA. There are plenty of places to stop for a rest, a drink, or to play soccer as you pass through a number of park areas. It basically follows Holmes Run, which fills pretty quickly right after a storm.
This is a good trail to bring the family on as there are a number of places to stop at playgrounds, which could help break up a run for the younger set.
