A steep but mostly smooth trail leading up Lookout Mountain from Golden.

Benjamin Pontecorvo

Overview

Features: Fall Colors — Views
Dogs: Leashed

Description

Chimney Gulch is a steep trail connecting Golden and the top of Lookout Mountain.

Beginning from the bottom, the first abrupt 1100 feet provide a good workout, and is also a good way to access the top of Apex Trail.

Parking is available at the trailhead on the south side of Hwy 6. Alternately, a tunnel under the highway is available a short distance to the west of the trailhead (couple hundred meters or so) if running to/from/across the highway.

Started early which was a good decision as it gets hot, dry, and dusty later in the day. Lots of up! 2.3mi
