Runner Notes

Lower Fir trail is steep and slippery over loose soil.

Description

With 600ft of elevation change in just under 0.7 miles, it makes for an average gradient of about 16%. This trail is tiered, however, so there are flatter sections and several much steeper sections - one entailing exposed sandstone at >25%

In the downhill direction, it's such a steep descent it is not very comfortable for running. Uphill, it's a great trail to retest your max heart rate. Not the best scenery, mostly wooded and dry. Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.

Flora & Fauna

Douglas fir and second growth redwoods.
