Description

The trail begins at a junction with Open Canyon Cutoff, just off of Valley Trail. It is most easily accessed from the trailhead near the White Grass Ranger Station Historic District.

From Open Canyon Cutoff the trail heads west from Phelps Lake to Mount Hunt Divide and then descends into Granite Canyon. There are multiple attractions just off of Open Canyon, including Indian Lake, Coyote Lake, as well as Mount Hunt. Each require off trail navigation to access, however. There are two different camping zones in the canyon which are available by permit.
