Description

This is a well maintained, six-food wide trail that runs east from Old Dominion Dr. to Difficult Run Trail. Ridge trail meanders up and down along the ridge and through dense mid-Atlantic hardwood forest before descending to the mouth of Difficult Run. As with most trails in GFNP, all junctions along Ridge Trail are very well signed. This trail has junctions with Swamp Trail, Old Carriage Road, Matildaville Trail, River Trail and Difficult Run Trail.

Flora & Fauna

This trail travels through dense hardwood forest typical of the mid-Atlantic region. Deer, foxes and a plethora of squirrels can be seen along this trail. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of one of the many birds of prey native to the area, including the bald eagle.
