A sturdy single-stringer log bridge with peeled timber railings spans the crystal-clear waters of the West Fork Wallowa River at 5,484 ft.
Looking south from the lower switchbacks of the Ice Lake Trail at 5,878 ft, the glaciated U-shaped trough of the West Fork Wallowa River canyon unfurls toward the distant granite divide.
