The surrounding hills come into view as the trail climbs and the forest thins.
The Wildhay River crossing, is not so wild in late August. The real action is in early summer with all the snow melt.
Impressive rock walls rise above the trail as it travels through the meadows of Eagles Nest Pass, 6,201 ft. Eagles Nest Pass is a gap in the Persimmon Range.
