A hermit crab crosses the trail. If you keep on the lookout, frogs, lizards, and crabs can be seen scurrying across the trail beneath you.
Western Samoa can be seen through a break in the trees.
Flowers bloom in November.
The trail starts as a wider road before it starts to narrow in places to a singletrack that is overgrown in areas. The first part of the trail is shaded, providing relief from the sun.
Ferns are common throughout the trail due to the wet climate.
The final push to the summit includes a climb up a series of steps. Some of the steps were in need of repair, so test the step before you put your full weight on it.
