From the beginning of the trail, you can look uphill to see where the trail leads you. As you can tell, there isn't a lot of shade.
The top of the trail flattens out and several side trails for mountain bikers connect with the Clipper Ridge Trail. The Flat Top Trail circles to the right and then descends back toward the parking lot.

The top of the trail flattens out and several side trails for mountain bikers connect with the Clipper Ridge Trail. The Flat Top Trail circles to the right and then descends back toward the parking lot.
You can see the trail as it climbs the ridge line. You can see the pampas grass corridor on the hillside that you just descended.

At the intersection of the Clipper Ridge Trail and the Almeria Trail, you get good views of the Pacific Ocean, Pillar Point Naval Station, and the marina.
Like all the trails in the area, the Almeria Trail climbs steeply up the hillside. There are some shaded areas to rest as you climb toward better views.
While the trail does flatten out at the top, there is quite a climb to get there. Like most trails in the park, you get a good view of the ocean if you turn around.
