The West Fork Chalone Creek follows the trail. While the creek may be dry most of the year, if there have been recent rainstorms, you can hear it as it makes its way through the creek bed.

The Jawbone Trail descends to the right and you can see the North Chalone fire tower off in the distance.

The trail narrows if you follow it straight ahead. It is man made, so it is easy traveling and well groomed.
Information on the Lyons Homestead, a family that lived in the area in the early 1900s, sits beside the trail.
There is some shade underneath the trees along portions of the trail. You can also see the Spanish moss hanging in the trees.
