The trail as it makes its way through the desert.
The power line corridor, which is open to hiking and horseback riding, intersects the Palo Verde at this point and heads North and South through the monument.
The Palo Verde Trail is little more than a gravel trail as it heads toward the campground. However, as you can see in the distance, the mountains rise above the desert, providing great views.
Views of the Ajo range sit off to the left hand side of the trail as you head to the Campground.
Saguaro cacti and Organ Pipe cacti flank the trail.
Teddy Bear cholla and Ocotillo cacti can also be seen along the trail. The trail really gives you an idea of the type plants live in the Sonoran desert.
Benches sit alongside the trail in case you need to rest on the journey.
