There were many, many bromeliads in the trees in this area. These plants don't have roots in the soil, and store water in their bases. These particular ones were about the size of a basketball.

One of the many types of butterflies we saw. There was another that was larger with blue iridescent wings that I never could get a good picture of.

A view of the trail - smooth and easy at this point.
There were a few rickety bridges along the way - we crossed one at a time.
In addition to the rickety bridges, there were some places where a bit of rock-jumping was needed.

Most of this trail was smooth and easy to walk on.
