The switchbacks through this depression are often muddy and poor. They are passable, but can also be avoided with a small detour.
Side trail to Varnum's woods picnic area can also be used to loop around the stream depression and switchbacks.
Nice singletrack at Valley Forge.
Looking across the Schuylkill River at the Pawlings Farm area and Walnut Hill Barn. There are more trails available across the river.
Washington's Headquarters is just a bit to the west of the parking area.
