The Clash of the Titans [Suggest Edits]
Watch the warmer southern Gulf Stream crash into the colder northern Labrador Current in magnificent fashion. Just off the point of Cape Hatteras these two currents surge together creating an amazing show that attracts sea and bird life in abundance. It appears like the rapids continue out into the ocean for miles. The churning seas deposit a vast array of sea shells for the eye to see and the hands to touch. During off seasons you can get the place to yourself.
Short Run: A couple of miles hike from the parking lot at the end of Lighthouse Road. The beach can be accessed via 4x4 (not ATV or AWD, you must have a "real" 4x4 with bigger tires and deflation helps) with a purchased pass and lower tides.
