Need to Know

The trail begins across the street from the parking lot on the right of the Skyway at the intersection with Neal Road. The trail ends at Pentz Road, so it is recommended to park one car on Pentz and drive back to begin at Neal Road if running the full trail.

Runner Notes

This trail is a paved bike path with an incline and some uneven patches.

Description

The trail begins across the street from the parking lot on the right of the Skyway at the intersection with Neal Road. This trail is a paved road, commonly used as a bike path, that runs parallel to the Skyway. The trail is on an incline, and cuts across several backroads with crosswalks provided.

This trail includes the historic ally featuring signs about Yellowstone Kelly, a revered pioneer from New York who eventually settled in Paradise in the early 1900s. The trail runs through the area where Kelly's home was once located.

This trail is referred to as a "trailway" because it was once a railroad that has now been paved over. The trailway mostly passes through forests, and provides views of the surrounding mountain ranges, including an impressive view of Sawmill Peak. The trail officially ends at the intersection of Skyway and Pentz Road, with a trail mark on the right of the path that reads "Pentz, 0.0".

Flora & Fauna

The trailway features an abundance of trees from oak woodlands to pines. Several species of birds make their homes among these trees, as well as chipmunks and squirrels. Deer are frequently seen from the trail as well.
