Some climbing and scrambling is required. Also, due to landslides and trees falling, many parts of the path require low-effort contortionist skill.

Swimming in the Savegre Falls can be fatal; there are underwater currents, and it is not recommended. Rocks are very slippery.

Beware of diverging paths if you take the upper trail; try to stay along the river, to the right. Signage is sparse, worn, and sometimes misleading.

This trail is not recommended for running, as there are too many parts for scrambling. See nearby trails for better options.

There are a number of attractive features on this run, including the rushing Savegre River, two waterfalls, a cave, a clearing for birdwatching, towering oaks, massive rock features, and some beautiful views of the valley (if you take alternative routes).

The trail is accommodated by rusty stairways and rope guides which are in severe disrepair, but which make the descent and ascent to the falls simpler. There are also two footbridges that cross the river.

The trail is on the border of the Los Quetzales Parque Nacional, in the Reserva Forestal Los Santos.

Keep an eye out for the valley's famous quetzal bird, along with numerous other birds and some large mammals.
