Runner Notes
The trail is a point to point trail split up in 11 sections that range from 9 to 22 km each.
Either you run the whole trail in 3-5 days and stay overnight along the way—everything from campsites/tents or sleep in simple shelters to youth hostels, B&Bs, cottages, and hotels are available—or you pick out one or several sections for a day trip. Then I would suggest you to take a bus northbound, get off at the trailhead of your choice and then run southbound. You can park a car at the end.
If you aim at taking a municipal transport from the Stockholm city, it's probably easiest if you start your trip north from the subway station Tekniska högskolan from where you can take the bus towards Norrtälje.

Description
The Roslagsleden Trail offers almost 190 km of running past ancient settlements dotted with rune stones, through pristine forests with crystal clear lakes, across fields dotted with cows and sheep, past historical sites with churches and castles, through protected countryside with rare flora and fauna, and along a coastline of rocks, shingle, sand, and an endlessly beautiful sea.
The trail starts in Danderyd and ends in Grissleham, and is split up in 11 sections that range from 9 to 22 km each. All the way along the trail, there are plenty of places to stay overnight—everything from simple shelters to youth hostels. There are also campsites, B&Bs, cottages, and hotels.
The trail is marked by a band of orange painted on the trees. Occasionally, signposts also guide the way and give distances. You’ll find an information board at the start and end of every section.
The trail runs through Stockholm County and the municipalities of Danderyd, Sollentuna, Täby, Vallentuna, Österåker and Norrtälje, which are also responsible for the upkeep of the trail which exists thanks to all the supportive landowners and funding from the County Administrative Board in the County of Stockholm, the Local Nature Conservation (LONA) initiative, Stockholm County Council, the INTERREG project ‘The Archipelago Route’ and Norrtälje Municipality.
Roslagsleden Trail is also part of the European long distance path E6, which starts in Greece and ends in Kilpisjärvi in northern Finland.
