At the large but sometimes overfilled parking area for Sugarloaf Mountain you're presented with two trail options: "Difficult" and "Easy Trail". This is the "Difficult" option. It passes through thick forest that offers nice shade and near large rocks/cliffs, resulting in a scenic run. There are a lot of rocks and some roots that make footing on this option significantly more difficult than the smooth Easy Trail. However, there is nothing technical about this route - it's still a run-up. Aside from being shorter, this route is also further from the road so it's a little quieter than the "Easy" option.
The "Difficult" part ends at an intersection with the "Easy" trail and a small spur. You'll need to take the "Easy" trail the rest of the way to the summit.
