Need to Know
During the steep uphill sections, the trail does cross a number of downhill bike trails so be aware, especially on the weekends.
Description
After leaving Bai Kristo, head across the switchback in the road (beware of traffic) and take the trail on the exit on the switchback with the red-blazed sign. The trail begins to climb quickly, leading you briefly back toward the chairlift then turning away into the woods.
After the first kilometer, you arrive at the first section that can be wet. For the next few hundred meters, you leave the forest and traverse a meadow with vistas to the north with sections of Sofia visible below. At 1.6 km, you find yourself near the road again; follow the obvious sign up a set of concrete stairs to an old ski piste. The trail climbs steeply here in this short 200 meter section.
At the top you'll join a gravel road that will bring you to the intersection with the Goli Vrah Lift. Continue to follow the red-blazed trail to the left on the wide gravel which will take you all the way to Hizha Aleko
