Runner Notes

Ruts, loose footing, and steep terrain may mean you'll want to look elsewhere.

Description

Surprisingly this challenging trail is almost devoid of rocks along the entire route. But the steeper grades and eroded coarse-grained sandstone have given way to significant ruts that can make progress difficult and even frustrating. Still if you're up to the challenge, this trail provides a good workout and some excellent views high above Lake Elsinore that are extraordinary!

The bottom of the trail starts off a dirt road and climbs steeply for roughly 0.4 miles before the grade first backs off. The trail has minimal overgrowth of manzanita and scrub brush and most of the route is clear the whole way. Watch your footing as some sections can be quite loose on the slog to the top. Once there, the trail intersects with the North Main Divide Road.
