Description

After splitting off from Forest Road 008, this road heads toward a series of switchbacks as it heads up the mountain in the direction of American Fork Twin Peaks. The trail bobs in and out of aspen and pine forests and starts out low enough to hear the creek that feeds Silver Lake Flat, but pretty soon it gets high enough to where you can no longer hear it.

This road is in pretty good shape, and in general doesn't get too rocky, although there are a couple of rocky sections and there is generally an erosional rut in the middle of the road (which can be pretty easily avoided on either side of the road). The switchbacks on the road are generally bermed on the sides, which makes it great for running down.

After the series of switchbacks, the road comes to a closed gate as it enters Major Evans Gulch (private property). It is uncertain whether the land owner wants hikers or runners on the property, so for now the route ends at this gate, even though the forest service road continues beyond the gate.
