Runner Notes

Get to know the routes and potential wet spots to avoid, and I believe this would be a very fun trail to run on.

Description

Where else in Toledo can you find an almost 7-mile loop that gives you moderate elevation changes, beautiful non-concrete scenery, glimpses of wildlife, all in a setting where you never track across the same path and there's barely a straight path throughout?

This is a terrific combined Bike and Foot trail. From Jermain Park or N Cove Blvd there is plenty of safe parking. Please be aware that cyclists have the right away and travel counter-clockwise while those on foot must yield and travel clockwise. This is in the Ottawa River "valley" so there are plenty of wet tracks in the low areas when the season is right, but nothing a 6" boot and good balance can't handle when the river is tame. Disclaimer - I have not done this loop during mosquito season but can only imagine that the bugs are voracious. There are even a few simple and challenging Geocaches along the route to add an extra incentive to get outside.

You have the option to stay drier or cut a lot of time out of the trip with multiple shortcuts near the switchbacks so a custom time frame is manageable.
