Runner Notes

This dishes out some rough going over a short, steep trail.

Description

As its name suggests, the Reservoir Canyon Trail (008) climbs out of Reservoir Canyon from its intersection with the Vega Creek Trail (164).

From the trail junction, the first half mile is spent gradually winding through scrubby bushes before tackling the slope. All of the elevation gain is focused into a series of tightly packed switchbacks that end atop the canyon rim on Forest Road 096 (Maverick Point).

While you'll earn some nice views as you slog up the trail, its rocky and rutted nature doesn't make for the most enjoyable run.
