The entrance to this trail is just to the east of the Pepper Ranch Visitor Center. A sign points the way to the trailhead. While Florida trails typically do not have major elevation changes, the small elevation changes along this trail provide an excellent opportunity to experience several different native habitats, including pine flatwoods, mixed hardwood forest and depression marsh. This is a pleasant short run. The trail has 2 loops that can be used to extend the run, and loop back around to the trailhead without retracing too many steps. This trail is most enjoyable during the dry season, as parts are at very low elevation and can get wet and muddy during rainy season.

In February, one can often find the toothed rein orchid growing along the trail. Various types of wildlife are often seen along the trail as well including bobcats, owls, and deer. Many of the native plants are marked with identification signs.
