Runner Notes

Uneven and loose rocks make up about 1/2 of this run. If you need solid ground to run on, this isn't the trail for you.

Description

Park at the Fish Hatchery Parking lot and follow the road straight ahead to the large log blocking car traffic from going any further. Follow the road about 100 yards until it drops on the singletrack. From there the trail is easy to follow to the top of Bolt Mountain. Follow the Multi-Use trail signs.

The trail has a good mix of smooth trail and technical rocky sections. The first 2 miles are the steepest part of the climb. After that it is smooth sailing to the top for the most part. About 1.5 miles up the trail you'll see a small spur trail leading off to the northeast (right). Make sure you stay left there and follow the main trail. That spur will take you over to a place called Elk Mountain. There are great views of the valleys and mountains around the area from the top.

You'll need a parking pass (day or season pass) to park within the park boundary. There is limited parking on the side of the road outside of the park.

Flora & Fauna

Wildflowers, madrone and pine trees and poison oak grace this wonderful trail.
