Description

This is a short one-mile interpretive trail and a much mellower option for those who would like something a little more low-key. The trail leaves from the McKittrick Canyon Visitor Center and heads south past the picnic area. The trail splits and forms a roughly 0.8-mile loop.

There are trailside exhibits that explain some of the Permian Reef geology as well as describing common plants you'll see along the trail. This trail does do a little climbing, so while not very long, it can get your heart pumping a little bit.

Flora & Fauna

Trailside exhibits discuss some of the local plant life.
