Lamb's Canyon is a Watershed. There are large signs that say "No Dogs Allowed" both at the trailhead as well as at the top.

Overview

This is a recently renovated singletrack that ascends a lush green canyon with a small creek following alongside it.

Mountain bikers like this trail because it is fairly gradual all the way up, so there is a bit of traffic, especially on weekends.

Description

As you go up Lamb's Canyon (get off on the Lamb's Canyon exit off I-80), there is a small parking area on the left-hand side of the road where the trailhead is. There is a vault toilet there. The trail starts on the other side of the road, across a bridge that goes over a small creek. The trail gradually ascends the canyon, following a small creek bed that usually has at least a little water throughout the year.

The trail ascends through pines and aspen groves, mostly following the creek bed, until it contours out of the canyon floor and switches back to head towards the pass. From the pass, one can continue down to Elbow fork, or explore the ridgeline on either side. Head north on the ridgeline about 10 meters west of the signs at the top of the pass to find a good lunch spot with a view for one or two people. This narrow ridgeline trail is overgrown and may just be an animal trail but persistence pays off.

Flora & Fauna

Plenty of beautiful song birds, squirrels, and even moose! They love the cool shade this canyon provides. Also bluebells, white columbine, lupine, and wild rose.
