Need to Know

Trail becomes very slippery in some areas after a rain.

Description

The trail starts with a descent through the trees starting just to the right of the Sella Bay Overlook area. At 0.25 miles, there is a shallow stream crossing that can be walked across on rocks to avoid wet shoes if you are careful. The trail is then exposed for the next half mile, cutting across short saw grass and fern meadows, allowing views of the coast and palm groves on the run out, and the southern mountain range on the run back.

The last 0.25 miles are through a palm grove adjacent to a stream that ends by crossing the historic Spanish bridge where the stream empties into Sella Bay. The last 0.25 miles have occasional mud, but it can be avoided if you choose your path carefully. From the end of the trail you can explore the Sella Bay beach in either direction. There are numerous hermit crabs, and, to the left, a large coral formation just off of the beach.

Flora & Fauna

Palm trees (including seedlings), ferns, wildflowers, geckos, skinks, chameleons, hermit crabs, occasionally wild pigs
