Runner Notes
Most of the trail is soft sand except for Squirrel Canyon.
Description
The first 2 ½ miles are on a ATV trail used by ATVs, hikers and horses. You are initially on Short Creek and then a left at the base of The Beehive in to Squirrel Creek. The ATV trail continues for a portion and then the trail narrows to foot and horse traffic only.
When you reach the top of the ridge , T intersection, you hit a ATV trail again. Turn left (west) and follow the ATV trail up across the slickrock to the saddle. Turn left (South) and follow the ATV Trail to the Arch.
There is a lot of soft sand on this run.
Flora & Fauna
Plants vary, as fir, ponderosa pine, and aspen prefer the snowy high country winters, while pinon, cliffrose, and mesquite flourish in the desert heat. Likewise, animal life is diverse.
