Need to Know
There is one BLM restroom at the petroglyph site about 3.5 miles in.
This is a doubletrack road that is best run counter clockwise. This is a great winter run/hike. Take a quick detour at the 3.6 mile and mark and check out the ancient petroglyphs. Continue on the doubletrack until you see BLM rd1971 going to the south. Stay on this very rugged doubletrack 4wheeler trail until you get to the cattle troughs and power line. Turn northeast with the power line. You'll leave the power line at mile 6.6 at run through three dry river beds in the next 2 miles. The views of the Pine Valley laccolith in the early morning light are amazing. This is probably a better running loop than a hiking loop, but its close to town and quickly accessible to an exact ten mile loop.
