The Snaefellsjökul National Park has a wide variety of trails. Most official routes can be done under two hours, and from the starting point, they are reachable by car.
The park is a paradise for waterfall-lovers, and runners, who enjoy running through volcanic landscapes.
There are dream beaches along the coast with crystal clear blue sea.
Need to Know
The trail is rocky and along the coast sandy.
I started my run at the camping ground in Hellissandur. First, I followed the main road to the north-west. The trail leads along the beach of the national park.
On the way, you encounter the old "Well of the Irish," a historical attraction. Next to it is the parking area Írskabrunnur.
From there, the route passes a sheltered cove with golden sand and beautiful beaches to take a selfie. There are fishing relics at Öndverðarnes. You encounter many birds, and it is possible to spot whales.
Take the route in the south back to the road 579.
Flora & Fauna
A lot of Seagulls along the coast.
