Need to Know
The park is predator free, and the council works hard to protect the birds (like kiwi) that they've reintroduced here. No pets of any kind are allowed.
This track climbs up from a point just around the corner from the main parking and restrooms, and reaches the highest point overlooking the entire Tawharanui coastline and beyond. The trail surface is mostly dense grass and some dirt road.
From here, you can check out the Tokatū Point Overlook and head back the way you came, or continue on the South Coast Track
for a much longer loop all the way back to the main gate at the entrance to the park.
