Need to Know

Stay alert for mountain bikers. This is black bear and mountain lion country- always carry bear spray!

Description

This trail begins at the Crazy Canyon parking area and travels up the canyon through mature forest with a thick understory. Grades remain relatively easy throughout the trail and it stays mostly free of too many roots or rocks. Just beyond the 2-mile mark the forest opens up to the beautiful open southern hillside of Mt. Sentinel. Wildflowers abound in the springtime. Want to make it a challenging loop? Head up the Pengelly Ridge Trail at this trails end to eventually reach the peak of Mt. Sentinel via the Pengelly Connector Trail, then take it all the way back to the parking lot via Crazy Canyon Road #9959.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, small mammals, various avian species, possibly bear, moose, or mountain lion.
