Description

This greenway hugs the French Broad River, beginning and ending at a popular boat launch. As you begin the trail and enter the woods, the surface changes from gravel to paved asphalt. This was done as the first phase to extend the greenway beyond the park and closer to Sierra Nevada. Only about 0.25 miles of trail is paved for now.

This county park, just past the airport, has an array of amenities including river access, picnic areas, and walking trails. Conserving Carolina, along with RiverLink and Henderson County Parks and Recreation, has worked to improve the trail system through the acquisition of grants and the development of a porous greenway. This trail demonstrates the success of low impact greenway construction and how it benefits both the health of our riverways and Henderson County residents.
