On the south side of the river, there is a lengthy beach area that is ideal for swimming or fishing. There is a short trail connecting the beach to the Old Tom Thumb RR Bed with a steep descent down the bank.

Caution must always be taken while traversing this trail and crossing the Patapsco River. Never attempt a crossing during elevated water conditions. Be sure to check water levels before setting out on your run, using resources such as the USGS water monitoring site:
