This would be our alternative route for the Yamacraw 20K when water levels are too high or trails are unsuitable.

Overview

The Yamacraw 20K course would stay south of Rock Creek to avoid the problematic areas due to high water and flooding. The course uses the 10K course to begin and then crosses the tipple bridge, goes out to Dick Overlook. After 2 miles of gravel road the course connects back to the Kentucky Trail at Waters Cemetery and eventually back to Blue Heron for the finish.

Description

The alternative course shares approximately 4 miles with the Yamacraw 50K course and all of the Yamacraw 10K course. The 20K uses the entire 10K course before crossing the river. Along the way, runners will be treated to some fantastic singletrack trails and scenic landmarks including Crack in the Rocks, river views, and sandstone bluffs.

After crossing, the runners will make their way towards Dick Overlook eventually hitting gravel road. They will stay on the road for approximately 2 miles before reentering the trail. The last 4.3 miles is along the Kentucky Trail and follows the same finish as the 50K course to the epic finish at Blue Heron. There are two aid stations along the course. The first is at the tipple bridge at Blue Heron at mile 6.4. The second is at mile 9.4 at Waters Cemetery.
