Need to Know

There are restrooms both at 32nd Street and at the Piestewa Peak lot.

Description

This trail connects in two places to the Mohave Connector Trail #202, but provides much better views. While Trail 202 is a lowland trail, this one switchbacks up one peak, traverses to a second, and then switchbacks down. The views to the south are fantastic, and you get a great view of Piestewa itself.

This trail can be accessed from the Mohave Trail #200 from the main Piestewa parking area, or from the 32nd Street lot via trail 8A and 202. From 32nd Street, follow Trail 8A, then turn left onto 202. When you get to the first pass, the Redhorn Trail (unmarked) heads off to the right. Follow the trail for a short distance on a traverse. At the next fork, the trail takes a sharp right up the hill, switchbacking all the way to the top.

From the Mohave Ramada in the main parking area, follow Trail 200 to the first pass. There, a junction of 200, 202, and the Redhorn Trail all meet. 202 heads down the wash. Switchback up the Redhorn Trail to the first summit.

This trail is quite steep, but well constructed.
