The terrain on this trail is split, half in a dry wash with deep sand and half in varied desert terrain.

Need to Know

More than half of this trail travels through deep sand and takes time. Plan accordingly and bring plenty of water.

Description

From the parking area, this trail is very enjoyable as it travels through varied slickrock and sandstone features. The section from the parking area until it reaches West Canyon Road is easy to follow.

After crossing West Canyon Road, the trail becomes a very sandy singletrack until it opens into a wide dry wash with even deeper sand that is very difficult to run through. At the junction with the Padre Canyon Trail, the Three Ponds Trail continues in the wash and turns right as it travels into the White Cliffs. Return the way you came in.
