Overview

A new event for the fall of 2018. This race will feature some big ridge climbs and amazing views of the valleys and surrounding islands of Hawaii.

Description

This race will begin and end at the Harold W. Rice Memorial Park. The course will proceed up Waipoli Road to the Maname Trail to the big climb up and back down the Skyline Trail. The race will finish with a tour of the Haleakala Ridge Trail and the Boundary Trail back down the Waipoli Road to the finish.

Flora & Fauna

There is a large diversity plants due to the climates and elevations which include dry alpine deserts to humid, salt-sprayed coastlines.

History & Background

Haleakalā, "House of the Sun," holds a sacred place in Hawaiian history. Tradition tells of the early Hawaiian people who sought the isolation of the Haleakalā wilderness for cerimomial purposes, instruction, and family reasons.
