Overview

The circular route leads along both sides of the White Elster from the royal capital of Greiz, the pearl of the Vogtland, via Neumühle to Wünschendorf, the gateway to Elstertal, and back via Berga / Elster back to Greiz. On the way through the wild and romantic valley of the White Elster, the runner comes past dreamy villages, historic places, and unique buildings. Attractive panoramic views give an unobstructed view of an interesting low mountain landscape.

A special feature of the way are its connections. For example, in Neumühle you can make your way to the opposite side of the Weiße Elster after stage 1 and run back to Greiz on stage 6. Through these possibilities, the stages can be combined individually and as needed.

Description

The Elsterperlenwanderweg is a circular route certified by the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Associations with the seal of quality "Wanderweg Deutschland". It leads over 72 km from the entrance of Greizer Park on Neumühle / Elster, Berga / Elster, past the Clodramühle by the community Wünschendorf. After crossing the Fuchsbachtals, it reaches Großdraxdorf and continues on the Zehnmarkweg and Reitsteig with views of the valley of the White Elster past the dam Albersdorf to Berga. Continue to Markersdorf, Untergeißendorf and Mühlberg back to Greiz, where the trail over the Upper Castle to the north entrance of Greizer Park closes the loop. There are 1,700 markings and 450 signs on the track so runners can easily find their way.
