“Enjoy a gentle run around what looks almost like an amphitheater.”

The trail starts right at the border of Mount Diablo State Park, shortly before the fence on Highland Ridge Trail
. It stays relatively level for the first mile gently following the contours of the hills. The first mile is out in the open with no shade. A bench to the left of the trail at 0.9 miles is a great spot for a break to take in the view. After that, the trail enters the forest on the northern side of the ridge and parallels Tassajara Creek. At 2 miles, stay left and run up the hill again to reach Old Finely Road.
