Need to Know
Runners will have three aid stations along the course. In addition, there will be one fluid-only aid stop. The elevation gain is just over 3,600 feet for the entire course. The total time allowed for completion will be 14 hours.
With the race being held in December, runners should be prepared cold weather. Review all information on the race website concerning course conditions and requirements.
Runners will begin in Cloudland Canyon State Park. There will a small amount of road running from the start to help separate the runners. They will then complete a 8+ mile loop, before heading out on a series of singletrack trails to the turn-around, then head back to the finish. Starting at 9:00 A.M., runners will catch the sunrise over the canyon, and also view the beautiful Cherokee Falls.
Flora & Fauna
Hardwood trees abound along the route. As this race is in December most of the trees will be void of leaves. Also common to the area are black bear, red-tailed hawks, screech owls, chipmunks, and flying squirrels.
