This trail is pretty steep in places to climb but overall the grades aren't too bad. It is also fun when done as a downhill. It has seen intermittent clearing and associated light use due to downfall in the old burns.
For the most part, the trail is straightforward as it stays on the ridge passing through several old burns. As the trail starts to drop into the creek bottom, the first switchback is easy to miss as the trail appears to go straight along a user-created spur to a viewpoint.
