“A great, five-mile singletrack loop with rolling terrain.”— Daniel Coxworth
From the rodeo arena, take the nearby dirt road that heads southeast and prepare for the ascent. The grade starts out mellow but steadily increases over the next 1.5 miles of climbing to come. For the first few intersections, follow the road as it wraps around the base of the hills.
At about 0.5 mile, turn to the right to head up a small, wooded valley between two low ridges. The road becomes rougher after it passes a few buildings, but the going is manageable. Not too far ahead, turn to follow the road onto the ridge that's been on the runner's right.
This last bit of effort brings runners to the start of the singletrack. When you're ready, head in for a quick descent that hugs the contours of the hill. This narrow singletrack section is the run's highlight. Near the base of the ridge, the trail enters a clump of trees before wrapping around to complete a slight climb across a dirt road.
On the other side, the singletrack completes a short descent that ends by climbing out to another dirt road. Almost immediately, turn to the right for a very short descent. The singletrack heads away again before the next road intersection. Turn left to follow the trail for a gentle climb that ends with a short descent back to another road.
Just ahead, you'll find the entrance for the next section of singletrack that takes runners for a rolling descent that ends in a short, tough climb. This is a great spot to test your uphill fitness, but it also makes for an equally nice casual run. Just where the trail reaches it's furthest point to the west, it starts another fun little descent that wraps back down to the road.
Take your next right, and then left. As you continue, watch for a final section of singletrack on the right. This is the last bit of climbing and it's over very quickly. At the top, make a left onto the road and follow it down to the arena.
