Update

A long dirt road climb to a spectacular summit

Nick Wilder

Overview

Features: Views

Description

Though rated easy, this is one long climb, especially since you have to climb at least 1,000' up the Village Trail before it even starts, making the total ascent about 3,500'!

Starting from the bottom, you pass next to Mill Creek through aspen-lined meadows where we've seen moose and deer. You climb through lodgepole forest and eventually get the rim overlooking the Gore Range. The views are spectacular and just get better and better all the way to the top. The summit is just at treeline and is truly spectacular!

This trail is a dirt road closed to vehicles. The surface is mostly easy, compact dirt, with occasional rain dams. It is technically easy, and never very steep, but relentless with the climbing, and you're at a pretty decent altitude, so take it seriously.
