Need to Know
Runners will have ample aid station opportunities, passing 5 locations two times (out and back). In addition, there will be two fluid-only aid stops. The total time allowed for completion will be 32 hours.
This race begins in Cloudland Canyon State Park with a 1/2 marathon loop on some of the most scenic trails in the park. Cloudland Canyon is one of the largest parks in Georgia. With it's thousand-foot deep canyons, sandstone cliffs, and abundant woodlands, runners will have amazing views and beautiful singletrack trails.
After the loop, runners will head northward towards Lookout Mountain on a series of trails that cover the gamut of conditions. Runners will traverse several trails in the Lula Lake Land Trust and then continue to Covenant College, with views of the iconic Lookout Mountain. From the turn-around-point, runners will return to the Start/Finish area in Cloudland Canyon.
Flora & Fauna
Hardwood trees abound at Cloudland Canyon; hemlock groves, maple trees, oaks, hickories, and sassafras can all be along the route. As this race is in December, most of the trees will be void of leaves. Also common to the area are black bear, red-tailed hawks, screech owls, chipmunks, and flying squirrels.
