Description

This trail is best done as a downhill from its high point at the junction with the Sunny Gulch trail. Both directions are great runs down. The first downhill from Sunny Gulch going north will take you by the Casino Lakes and then down Big Casino Creek. This downhill is very rugged and there are numerable roots and big rocks to navigate.

Heading south from the high point will take you by Martin Lakes. This way is not as steep but still fairly rugged. Near the end of the trail, you'll enter a burn area. In the burn area, the trail gets a little looser.

If done in its entirety as part of a backpacking trip, the trail is 14 miles one way and connects Warm Springs Creek Trail, passes over Sunny Gulch Trail (the highest point on the trail), and ends at the parking area near the Salmon River and Highway 75.
